🕯️ Made with Premium Coconut Wax

Our candles are crafted with 100% coconut wax, which offers a cleaner burn, longer burn time, and better scent throw than traditional paraffin candles. Follow these care tips to ensure your candles burn beautifully and safely.

1 The First Burn

The first burn is crucial for your candle's performance. When you light your Jarina Scents candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the entire top layer of wax has melted. This typically takes 2-4 hours, depending on the candle size.

💡 Why this matters: Coconut wax has a "memory." If you don't let the first burn create a full melt pool, your candle will "tunnel" (burn down the center only) in future burns, wasting wax and reducing burn time.

2 Optimal Burn Time

For best results, burn your candle for 2-4 hours at a time. Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours in one session.

  • This prevents the jar from overheating
  • Ensures even wax consumption
  • Maintains optimal fragrance throw
  • Prevents sooting and smoke

3 Wick Maintenance

Before each burn, trim your wick to 1/4 inch (6mm). This is essential for:

  • Preventing excessive smoke and soot
  • Ensuring a clean, even burn
  • Preventing the flame from getting too large
  • Maximizing your candle's burn time
✂️ Pro Tip: Use wick trimmers or nail clippers to trim the wick. Remove any wick trimmings from the wax pool before relighting.

4 Safety First

⚠️ Important Safety Guidelines:
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended
  • Keep candles away from children and pets
  • Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface
  • Keep candles away from drafts, vents, and air currents
  • Maintain at least 3 inches between burning candles
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire
  • Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings and matches
  • Stop burning when 1/2 inch of wax remains

5 Why Coconut Wax?

Our candles are made with premium coconut wax, which offers several advantages:

  • Cleaner Burn: Produces less soot and smoke than paraffin
  • Longer Burn Time: Coconut wax burns slower, giving you more hours of enjoyment
  • Better Scent Throw: Holds and releases fragrance more effectively
  • Natural & Sustainable: Made from renewable coconut oil
  • Non-Toxic: Free from harmful chemicals found in paraffin candles

6 Proper Storage

To preserve your candle's fragrance and quality:

  • Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Keep the lid on when not in use to preserve fragrance
  • Avoid storing in areas with temperature fluctuations
  • Store upright to prevent wax from shifting
🌡️ Temperature Note: Coconut wax can soften in warm temperatures. If your candle appears soft, place it in a cool area for a few hours before burning.

7 Troubleshooting

Candle is tunneling (burning down the center only)

This happens when the first burn wasn't long enough. To fix:

  • Wrap aluminum foil around the jar, leaving the top open
  • Burn for 2-3 hours to melt the wax around the edges
  • Remove foil and allow to cool
  • Future burns should be even

Excessive smoke or soot

  • Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn
  • Ensure the candle is not in a drafty area
  • Check that the wick is centered

Weak fragrance throw

  • Ensure the candle has a full melt pool on the first burn
  • Burn in a smaller room for stronger scent
  • Allow the candle to burn for at least 2 hours

Wick won't stay lit

  • The wick may be too short - let the wax pool and relight
  • Ensure the wick is dry before lighting
  • If the candle is near the end, it may be time to replace it

8 Final Tips for Best Results

  • Rotate your candles: If you have multiple candles, rotate them to prevent fragrance fatigue
  • Burn in appropriate spaces: Larger candles work best in larger rooms
  • Extinguish properly: Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out, then straighten the wick
  • Let it cool: Allow the candle to cool completely before moving or relighting
  • Enjoy the journey: Each burn should last 2-4 hours for optimal performance
